The supporters of Pakistan Muslim League – (PML), were raged by anger and disappointment. They protested the Supreme Court ruling by burning tires and ripping down posters of Mr. Zardari in Lahore and other parts of the country.
Later in the evening Punjab ministers, legislators and members of Punjab provincial assembly demonstrated disapproval of the ruling with chanting slogans and banging the desks.
The ruling of the Supreme Court of Pakistan came in the recognition of the criminal conviction that was connected to the military coup incident that took place in October, 12, 1999, in which Mr. Nawaz ordered the plane not to be allowed to land carrying the head of Pakistan army Gen. Pervez Musharraf.
A public rally address, conducted by Pakistan Muslim League (PML) in Shaikhupura, Mr. Nawaz Sharif said he is now committed more than ever to join lawyer’s movement in order to reinstate the former chief justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, who was detached from the office by Gen. Musharraf.
Mr. Sharif said that it is very easy for Mr. Zardari to reappoint the deposed, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, back in his former office in place of the present chief justice, Abdul Hameed Dogar, but Mr. Zardari continue to reject this legal proposition because it is political beneficial especially with reference to his corruption charges.
